What Occurs During the Initial Consultation / Exam?

When you enter the chiropractic office a detailed history will be taken with you from the chiropractor related to the nature of the problem, everyday activities, job activities, sports you play, and other recreational activities will be discussed. You will also have a comprehensive full body and spinal exam and neurological tests for the chiropractor to gather any and all of the important information relating to your condition.

What type of diagnostic testing is needed?

Provided your case is appropriate for this type of care, much of the testing you will receive requires a level of feedback from your own system through the use of muscle testing. Because of this, much of what is done in the beginning is as a result of that feedback. If there are persistent issues or concerns then, opting for further evaluation via labs, imaging and the like, will be discussed. It is her goal to provide the best standard of care while minimizing cost where possible. She will often ask patients if they would want to know more about their issue or do they want to do something about it. Many times testing is only a confirmation of what is already known or suspected and may not change the course of action. Those dollars can be better spent actually doing something about the issue.

Do you take x-rays only when necessary?

Yes. This service would require a referral to an imaging center and is typically only used when injury has occurred or when deciding if another professional may be necessary to provide the best care.

Will I be able to get an Adjustment on the 1st Visit?

Generally, no. Because of the nature of your exam, the amount of information it provides and once she has determined you are a candidate for this type of care, Dr. Parker will wait until treatment is established after your report visit.

How much time does my appointment take in the office?

Visits are scheduled on the 20s. Sessions include adjustments and any additional therapies needed to resolve what is discovered at each appointment. Some patients take advantage of the extended session that run for 30-40 minutes.

How many times a week must I come for treatment?

As with anything new, if you do it consistently and persistently in the beginning, you will better maintain the results you’ve acquired. Over the years many doctors of chiropractic, who have practiced in this manner, have found the more you do in the beginning lessens treatment cost and duration. Your commitment to the first 6 weeks of care is vital to your improvement. After this first plan is finished, you will be evaluated for the necessity of further care. Pre-paid packages are available but not required. Long-term commitments are only offered once you have established this type of care fits your goals.

How long does each session last?

New patients have 2 separate required visits that each last approximately 1 hour for consultation, exam, history and report. Afterward, visits range from about 30min or more depending on the work we are doing. Package visits are based on 6 (30-40min) sessions that include all therapies, adjustments and consultations.
